We Support You Throughout Your Fertility Journey

At Harley Street Fertility Centre, we understand that the path to parenthood can be emotionally challenging. We recognise the importance of feeling heard, and the need to speak to someone not directly involved in your care. This is why our independent counsellor is here to support and guide you during every phase of your treatment.

Why Fertility Counselling Matters

Navigating infertility treatments such as In vitro fertilisation (IVF) or Intrauterine insemination (IUI) can bring about a range of emotions, including stress, anxiety, and uncertainty. Engaging in counselling for infertility will help you to:

  • Make informed decisions
  • Regain control and find peace of mind
  • Feel supported throughout your treatment
  • Plan for the next steps in case of negative results
  • Improve your overall emotional well-being

Our Counselling Services

  • Pre-Treatment Counselling: Preparing mentally and emotionally before starting fertility treatments
  • During Treatment Support: Managing stress and expectations during procedures like IVF
  • Post-Treatment Counselling: Processing outcomes and planning next steps, regardless of the result

Profile
Psychology and Fertility: Support at the Heart of Intimacy

The desire to have a child, when faced with obstacles, can become a deeply personal upheaval. The medical journey toward parenthood often confronts individuals with unexpected realities: waiting, doubts, invisible losses, a fragile self-image, loneliness, and tensions within the couple or social sphere.

As a clinical psychologist specializing in perinatal care, I provide support at every stage of this journey:

• From the first signs of difficulty conceiving
• During assisted reproductive treatments (IVF, insemination, gamete donation, etc.)
• After a spontaneous miscarriage or a medically induced termination of pregnancy
• In cases of perinatal grief
• Or during a pregnancy following a long fertility journey

Why Consult a Psychologist in This Context?

Fertility treatments can be long and emotionally taxing, bringing up a wide range of feelings, such as:

• Stress, anxiety, and anguish
• Feelings of failure or injustice
• Weakened self-esteem
• A sense of isolation (due to taboos, lack of understanding, etc.)
• Social, familial, or relationship pressure
• Emotional and physical fatigue from repeated treatments
• Doubts, feelings of helplessness
• Ambivalence or conflict around decisions (donation, embryo preservation, ending treatment, etc.)
• A medicalized relationship with the body and impacted intimacy
